Tangle U Ensemble

My piece for the Tangle U 2013 ensemble exchange. Here’s how it works there are 9 tiles total, the centre one is kept by the creator and the rest are shared out to other participants. You end up with a 9 piece ensemble done by 9 different people. I’ll post the my finished ensemble at the first opportunity.

I’m going to learn more about zentangle®

My excitement for attending Tangle U next weekend is building. It is a forum for Certified Zentangle Teachers to learn and explore the art of zentangle.  We are staying and taking classes at The Hotel Northampton, Northampton,MA. It is a beautiful boutique hotel with an awesome atmosphere for learning.   The faculty for this course is a diverse group of CZTs, many of whom are known nationally and internationally for their work in Zentangle® and other arts.     I can hardly wait to learn from these amazing teachers.

Needless to say I will have lots of new ideas to bring back to share in my future classes. I’ll post classes and dates on the website in early April.

Here is a list of some of the CZT’s presenting at the forum:

Meredith Yuhas Phd, LPC, NCC, ACS, CZT.  CZT #7 Meredith is the Director of the Counseling and Wellness at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, CT. She was the first to conduct research on the benefits of Zentangle. Meredith incorporates Zentangle into therapeutic interventions in her clinical practice as well as teaching it to the university community at large including “How to be a Mindful Leader: The Zentangle Way” and “organizing Mindfulness: The Zentangle Way”.  You can find her online at www.flickr.com/photos/craft-tea/.
Sandy Steen Bartholomew. CZT #1 Sandy is an author, illustrator, mixed-media artist, and a Certified Zentangle® Teacher and a Right-Brain Business Plan® licensed facilitator. She runs an art studio (BeezInk), a teaching studio and shop (The BeeHive), and an Etsy shop (Bumblebat). Her life looks like a Zentangle! You can find her online  www.beezinthebelfry.blogspot.ca

Marie Browning. CZT #4   Marie is the author of “Time to Tangle with Colors”, the first book on coloring Zentangles published by Design Originals. As a bestselling author, Marie has writing numerous books with over 2 million in print, reprinted in 5 different languages.  You can find her online at www.tombowusa.com

Susan Nutting CZT #7 After discovering Zentangle in the fall of 2010, she attended CZT7 in October, 2011 and now shares it with those who are seeking the benefits of mindful meditation through art.  You can find her online atwww.youcantangletoo.blogspot.com.

MaryAnn Scheblein-Dawson. CZT #1   Her love of textile patterns and weaves is a natural marriage with the organic and geometric tangles of Zentangle and you will see lots of distinctive textile themes in her work including buttons, decorative stitching, ribbons and ruffled fabric. MaryAnn’s  Zentangles and original Tangles may be found in the Design Originals books “Totally Tangled”, “Zentangle: Fabric Arts, Quilting and Embroidery”, “Zentangle 8: Monograms and Alphabets”, and “The Joy of Zentangle”.

Jean Theurkauf. CZT # 2  Jean has a Bachelor or Arts in Studio Art and Psychology form Brandeis University. After working for many years in software engineering, she has returned to her passions…art, fiber and teaching. Jean opened her Zentangle/Fiber Arts Studio in the historic Western Avenue Studios mill building in LowellMA, and teaches in her studio and in the Worcester MA area. Jean approaches the teaching of Zentangle as a way to help people unlock and expand their natural artistic talents. Jean also teaches knitting, crochet and weaving techniques, encouraging students not to follow a pattern, but to invent their own. You can find her online at www.artofthetangle.com.
